Baton Rouge General, Center for Health

Baton Rouge, LA

Surgical Suites as a Cutting Edge Gateway

The new addition entails six state-of-the-art operating rooms (two of which are outfitted for robotic procedures), and a sterile processing department. The project also consists of extensive renovations to the existing building to accommodate pre- and post-operation patients.

Optimizing this prominent threshold to the Baton Rouge General campus, the addition presents a bold contrast to the existing architecture, symbolically sculpting an open door and pointing gesture that leads the way to top-quality healthcare. With no windows required for surgery suites, the façade features the pure interplay of sleek, sculpted forms that cradle the healing heart logo, all while expressing the kinetic experience of the surrounding urban environment. The bold new image strikes a fresh and progressive tone that embodies the quality of care to be received by patients and bolsters pride of place for the staff. A potential future phase of the project may include digitally projected graphics and messages on the façade to further enliven the campus entry at night.

This expansion to the growing Bluebonnet campus exemplifies The Baton Rouge General’s continued investment in serving the healthcare needs of the community.
