Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, Emergency & Surgery Expansion

This 100,000 sf expansion of the Lafayette General Medical Center on a very congested site includes a state-of-art Surgical Platform, Emergency Department expansion and a new parking garage. Each operating room is identical and generously sized to accommodate any type of surgery. A large ribbon window wall lines the surgery corridor on the second level bathing it with light. The metal clad exterior skin is segmented and curved to provide a distinct high-tech architectural image decreasing the scale of this huge addition from the street corner.

The Emergency Department expansion allows for three different levels of care: Acute Patients, Clinic Patients and Intermediate Patients. It also includes a 10-story trauma elevator serving the rooftop helipad. The second floor building mass is extended to provide covered ambulance drop bays and provide a covered connection from the parking garage to the Main Lobby Entrance
