The St. Martin Service District Hospital was seeking to replace their existing 25 inpatient hospital rooms and add an MRI Imaging center. WHLC worked with the team at St. Martin Hospital and Lafayette General Health to present options that would allow them to expand in place with minimal disruption to the existing emergency department, medical office building, and administration staff. Working with the hospital’s chosen Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR) for the job, WHLC presented an efficient plan for expansion that allows the new patient wing to tie directly into the existing hospital circulation with a centrally located imaging department, enhancing the staff operational workflow. The economies realized by the design team have allowed for the expedited inclusion of two additional surgery suites into the project, originally planned for a later phase.
The St. Martin hospital expansion will further the hospital’s vision to better serve their patients and community in a way that reflects their commitment as stewards of the public trust as a health services district hospital.
